but a complete renewal of the inner person—spirit, mind, and heart—through the
work of the Holy Spirit.

What Does it Mean to Be a New Creation?
Being
a new creation means that, through faith in Jesus Christ, you are no longer
defined by your past, your mistakes, or your old nature. When you accept
Christ, you are made spiritually alive and receive a brand-new identity in Him.
This concept is most clearly articulated in 2 Corinthians 5:17: Therefore, if
anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come
(NIV)
This

The Old is Gone: Your past life, your sins, your old way of thinking, and your
separation from God are all wiped away.

not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its
practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in
the image of its Creator.

as a new creation means:

that belonged to the old life.

Putting on the new self —embracing Christ's likeness, living by His Word, and

transformation takes time. Philippians 1:6 reminds us:
Being
confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to
completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
As
new creations, we are continually being transformed by God’s grace, and He is
at work in us, shaping us more into the likeness of His Son.
